Not every Senior Portrait Experience goes according to plan.
Some go even better.
Morgan and her mom came to me looking for truly unique senior pictures. Herself an avid thespian and amateur film-producer, Morgan wanted an element of drama throughout her shoot. I was definitely on board, and delighted that she wanted to work with me.
We started our shoot at the Grand Rapids Civic Theater, where Morgan arrived after having her hair and makeup done by Angie Miller. She looked amazing, with classic and sassy bright red lipstick to set off her look. Pulling some strings with her connections there, we were able to get into the theater, on stage, and even backstage!
Back out in the foyer, the black and white staircase was a perfect place for her vintage-inspired black and white polka-dot dress, and Morgan looked like she had stepped almost straight out of the Roaring Twenties.
But then, things hit a glitch. We had hoped to grab some shots inside the public library featuring Morgan reading her all-time favorite series – Harry Potter, of course! Imagine our disappointment when we were told that photographers weren’t allowed inside the library! And that’s when things got even better.
Because of course, right across the street, was a church with an exterior that looked like it could have been part of Hogwarts itself.
Packing her wand and dressing in another of her favorite leather coats, Morgan and I headed back to the Civic where we got some amazing shots featuring the theater sign aglow in the background.
And the rest of the shoot? Well, you can see for yourself. Throw in a great wall mosaic, a best friend, the urban streets and setting of downtown Grand Rapids, and you’ve got a recipe for an amazing and unique Senior Portrait Experience.
Thanks again for working with me, Morgan! I hope the rest of your senior year at Allendale High School is as amazing as you are! And whatever you pursue in the future, as they say in the theater – break a leg!!
